My name is Dennis, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who has approximately twenty-five years of experience in the field of Social Work. I take a person-centered approach to treatment always keeping your goals at the forefront. I aim to recognize the inherent strengths within an individual as we move together throughout your healing journey. My treatment modality is Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (C.B.T) and occasionally tapping into elements of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (D.B.T). My goal is to create a space that is safe, empowering, and nonjudgmental.
My experience is vast in nature; however, I work mostly with individuals who have symptoms associated with depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)/ Racial Trauma. I am also extremely interested in supporting people of color, couples, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Let’s navigate your mental health recovery, together.
As a therapist specializing in addiction counseling since 2015, and mental health since 2012, I understand the complexities and challenges that come with addiction and its impact on one's mental health. My approach is grounded in empathy, compassion, and evidence-based practices to help my clients achieve long-lasting recovery and improved mental wellbeing. I have lived experience as a member of the LGBTQ community, neurodivergent community, and adoption that gives me unique insight and perspective on the inevitable difficulties, challenges, and discouragements of life.
I believe that addiction is a treatable disease that requires a holistic approach. Thus, my counseling is tailored to the individual needs of my clients, taking into account their unique life experiences, cultural background, and personal values. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy skills, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based interventions, among others.
In my addiction counseling, I work with clients to identify the underlying causes of their substance dependance, address co-occurring mental health issues, and develop coping skills to manage cravings and triggers. I also provide support for families affected by addiction, including education, communication skills, and emotional support. I can also educate on Medication assisted treatment options.
In my mental health counseling, I assist clients in addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health concerns that are impacting their lives. I use a strengths-based approach that empowers clients to recognize their inherent resilience and work towards achieving their goals.
I am committed to creating a safe and non-judgmental space for my clients to explore their thoughts and feelings. I prioritize building trust and rapport with my clients and providing them with the tools and resources they need to achieve lasting recovery and improved mental health
